Lead Software Engineer – Python Development
About the Role
OnePint builds a multi-tenant supply chain platform for retail — demand forecasting, supply planning, and an inventory control center, with AI agents layered on top to drive the workflows planners run every day. The engineering problems are the interesting kind: high-volume event pipelines, correctness under concurrency, and tenant isolation at scale, across large and fast-moving catalogs.
We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to own the architecture and delivery of core backend services. This is a hands-on technical leadership role — you'll set technical direction, review code, and mentor engineers. You'll spend most of your time on backend and system design, with occasional work in our React front end.

What You'll Do
- Design and own scalable, high-throughput backend architecture for our multi-tenant platform — from technical design through production behaviour.
- Set and uphold the engineering bar: clean, maintainable code, meaningful code reviews, and technical debt kept deliberately in check.
- Town your services in production: instrumentation, logging, alerting, and resolution of escalated incidents.
- Build quick proofs of concept and demos in response to client requirements.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs, and identify the impact of planned work on existing functionality.
- Plan and estimate work, hold a view on delivery timelines, and escalate early when they're at risk. Articulate technical designs clearly through documentation, diagrams, and flowcharts.
- Mentor engineers on the team and contribute to hiring through interviews and structured feedback.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor in Engineering / Technology (4 years) or Master in Computer Applications (2 years)
- Expert-level Python, with depth in at least one backend framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask). Solid experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL — schema design, query performance, and transactional correctness.
- Hands-on experience designing and running multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including tenant isolation, data partitioning, and configurability.
- Production experience with AWS and Kubernetes (EKS) — deployment, scaling, and debugging distributed services.
- Working familiarity with React and modern front-end fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) — enough to contribute to and review UI work.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, particularly in diagnosing issues in live distributed systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to socialize designs and collaborate with non-engineering stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a two-week iteration cadence with frequent production releases, and self-directed with minimal supervision.
Good to Have
- Experience building LLM-powered agents — tool use, orchestration, and evaluation — with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent.
- Experience with Kafka or other event-driven / streaming architectures.
- PostgreSQL at scale — partitioning, index design, and query tuning on large tables.
- Background in supply chain, demand forecasting, inventory planning, or retail systems.
- Ownership of non-functional requirements: performance, security and compliance, i18n/l10n. AWS certification.
